Ikanos Systems

Bespoke applications, built end to end.

Ikanos Systems is a software studio in San Diego, California. We design, build and operate iOS, Android and web applications for business and consumer products — including the search, recognition and machine learning that make them worth opening twice.

What we build

Mobile applications

Native and cross-platform apps for iOS and Android, including the parts that are genuinely hard: background upload that survives the app being killed, offline behaviour, and sync that holds up on a bad connection.

Web and backend

APIs, data models and web clients, deployed on infrastructure sized to the problem. We are as comfortable on a rented server running Docker as on a managed cloud, and we will tell you which one your budget actually calls for.

Applied AI

Semantic search, image and face recognition, and vector databases — self-hosted where privacy or cost demands it. Features that use a model because it answers a real question, not because it is on the roadmap.

For business, and for consumer

B2B

Internal tools, customer-facing portals and the integrations between systems that were never designed to speak to each other. Work that is judged on whether it is reliable on a Monday morning, and on whether your team can maintain it after we leave.

B2C

Consumer products shipped to the App Store and Google Play, where the first thirty seconds decide everything. We build the whole path — the app, the service behind it, and the operational work of keeping it running.

How we work

  • Senior engineers only. The person who designs your system is the person who writes it.
  • You own the code. Your repository, your infrastructure accounts, your deployment. No lock-in to us as a vendor.
  • Working software early. We build the thin slice that goes all the way through — upload to storage to screen — before adding anything to it, because that is what finds the problems worth knowing about.
  • Honest about constraints. If a platform cannot do what a feature promises, we say so at the start rather than discovering it in testing.
